There’s nothing quite like returning to a cozy cabin after a day spent hiking. The warmth of the wood, the crackling fire, and the satisfaction of knowing you’ve earned every moment of comfort make cabin stays an absolute joy. For me, this combination of adventure and rest is the perfect recipe for reconnecting with nature. Let me take you on a journey through some of my favourite hiking spots and cabin stays, highlighting hidden gems and awe-inspiring walks in the UK.

Boulder Field Cabin: A Slice of Heaven in the Peak District
Nestled in the heart of the Peak District, Boulder Field Cabin is a must experience stay for outdoor enthusiasts. One of my favourite parts is the 20-minute hike up to the secluded cabin. The journey to the cabin is amazing, surrounded by dramatic rock formations and beautiful
greenery and when you arrive at Boulder Field, it’s like walking into paradise.

Walks and hikes from the Cabin
Staying at Boulder Field Cabin offers the unique advantage of having some incredible hiking trails near the cabin. Here are a few highlights:
• Stanton Moor and the Nine Ladies Druid Stone Circle. This gentle hike takes you through the mystical Stanton Moor, home to the ancient Nine Ladies Stone Circle. The combination of history and natural beauty makes it an unforgettable experience.
• Robin Hood’s Stride and Youlgreave or Elton. A delightful walk combining unique rock formations, rolling countryside, and the charm of nearby villages. It’s a great choice for those who love variety.
• Kinder Scout and Kinder Downfall . An absolute stunner, this hike takes you to the highest point in the Peak District. The challenging route rewards you with incredible views, waterfalls, and a rugged landscape that feels like another world. Whether you summit Kinder Scout or enjoy the spectacular Kinder Downfall, this is a hike you’ll remember forever.

After a day of exploring, Boulder Field Cabin provides a serene sanctuary to unwind, making every hike even more rewarding.

The Stone Bothy: A Hidden Gem in Anglesey
Moving west to Anglesey, Nook and Key offers one of my all-time favourite cabin experiences - The Stone Bothy. After an exhilarating hike to Pen yr Ole Wen and Carnedd Dafydd, I returned to the bothy, just a 25 – min drive from Eryri National Park. Unwinding in the most beautiful freestanding bath was pure bliss and a perfect end to an unforgettable day of adventure.

Walks and hikes from the Cabin
• The Dingle Local Nature Reserve (Nant y Pandy) Just five minutes from the Bothy by car, the Dingle Local Nature Reserve is a haven of tranquillity. This short, family-friendly walk winds through lush woodland, with a serene atmosphere that feels miles away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. More on this walk here.
• Newborough National Nature Reserve and Ynys Llanddwyn. If you have time for only one walk in Anglesey, make it this one. A 20-minute drive from The Stone Bothy, Newborough National Nature Reserve and Forest offers an incredible mix of landscapes, from towering pines to golden sands. Starting in the forest, the trail leads you to Llanddwyn Beach, one of the most breathtaking beaches in the UK. The highlight is Ynys Llanddwyn, a tidal island crowned with a lighthouse and steeped in Welsh folklore. This walk is an absolute must-do for anyone visiting Anglesey. Learn more here.

Walks and hikes from the Cabin
• Ogwen Valley: A place that stole my heart forever. Ogwen Valley is a breathtaking destination that has left an everlasting impression on me. With its towering peaks, glacial lakes, and cascading waterfalls, this magical landscape feels like
stepping into a dream. It a heaven for hikers, with trails that range from gentle strolls to challenging climbs, making it a perfect spot for adventurers of all levels. Every time I return, it feels like coming home to place where the world slows down, and natures beauty takes centre stage.
• Pistyll Rhaeadr Falls. This waterfall is a must see for any nature lover. As one of the tallest waterfalls in Wales, its
power and beauty is simply stunning. This beauty is easily accessible from the car park. A short but exciting walk to the waterfall. For those feeling adventurous there is a steep but rewarding climb up to the top for an ever more spectacular view.

Why Cabins and Hikes Are the Perfect Pair
What makes cabin stays so special? For me, it’s the way they enhance the hiking experience. After a day of exploring, there’s nothing better than returning to a warm, inviting space where you can relax and reflect. Cabins provide a connection to nature that hotels or urban accommodations simply can’t match. Whether it’s sipping a hot drink by the crackling fire, watching the stars from a deck, or waking up to the sounds of birdsong, cabins offer a sense of peace that’s hard to find elsewhere. A peace you never know you neededuntil you experience it. Whether you’re scaling the boulders of the Peak District, wandering the forests of Anglesey, or exploring the beautiful Wales, there’s always a cabin waiting to welcome you home.

So, pack your hiking boots, grab all your essentials, and set off on an adventure that combines the best of both worlds. Who knows? You might just discover your own slice of heaven along the way.
