Discover Fritton Lake: A Sanctuary of Natural Beauty

Nestled on a picturesque two-mile-long lake, Fritton Lake is a holiday club offering the ideal escape. Here, guests can immerse themselves in the serenity of wild swimming, rejuvenating saunas, and ample open space. The Clubhouse rooms and design-led cabins in the woods offer access to an array of amenities, including an outdoor heated pool, gym, fitness classes, lake sports, tennis courts, scenic lakeside trails, and a delicious estate-sourced menu. All of this is set against the backdrop of our pioneering 100-acre rewilding project.
During their stay, guests can delve into the estate’s innovative balance of food production and biodiversity. Embark on a nature safari by jeep, boat, or paddleboard to witness the harmonious coexistence of agriculture and wildlife.
Situated on the Norfolk/Suffolk border, Fritton Lake is just a short drive from East Norfolk’s rugged beaches and the charming seaside towns of the Suffolk coast, such as Southwold and Aldeburgh. The historic medieval town of Norwich is only 30 minutes away by car.
Sustainability is at the core its ethos. The outdoor pool is heated uses air-source technology, and the Bio Gym features equipment powered by kinetic energy. The food served at the Clubhouse is seasonally sourced or foraged from its 1000-acre rewilding project and 5000-acre regenerative agriculture farm. Guests can stay in the stunning design-led Koto cabins, constructed just a few miles away using the most sustainable materials.
Owner Hugh Somerleyton is a founding member of WildEast, a charitable foundation dedicated to returning 250,000 hectares of land to nature and transforming attitudes across East Anglia. The mission calls for the public to pledge 20% of their land to natural growth—no mowing, ploughing, or managed flowerbeds. This allows long grasses, dandelions, insects, birds, and animals to thrive.
While staying with us, guests are encouraged to participate in nature-centric events, including Wild Swimming Championships, Grass and Clay Tennis Tournaments, and Group Trail Runs. These activities are designed to help guests connect with nature and make the most of the incredible surroundings.
