April Reflections: A Special Month of Milestones
April has always held a special place in my heart—not just because it’s my birthday month, but because it's when nature begins to bloom again. The days are longer, the skies brighter, and everything feels full of potential.
This year feels particularly significant as I step into the "40 and fabulous" chapter of life. It’s brought with it a wave of reflection—especially looking back over the last nine years of building ACAI. My eldest son, who was born just two months after we registered the business back in 2016, also celebrated his birthday earlier this month. It took me down memory lane, to those early days of ACAI: the thrill of sending out our first orders, packing and posting, attending events and meetings—always with a baby in tow.
It’s incredible now to see how much that journey has shaped him. Watching him grow up around the business, seeing his understanding of it evolve, has been one of the unexpected joys of this experience. And while I’ve certainly lived through my share of mum guilt—trying to balance motherhood with running a business—it’s so rewarding to realise that we, working mums are showing our children something powerful: what dedication looks like, what work ethic really means.
As I look back on a decade of building ACAI alongside raising a young family, I’m filled with gratitude for our community—you. Your feedback has guided our product development from day one, and continues to shape what we create. Your engagement, your love for the outdoors, your stories—they all inspire us. So thank you, truly, for your continued support.
When I launched ACAI, my mission was simple: to inspire more women to enjoy the outdoors and to create a brand that truly champions them. As a womenswear graduate, fashion wasn’t my focus—it was about performance, style and fit that supported real outdoor adventures. We’re still on that journey. There’s always room to grow and improve, but I hope that our clothes have brought more joy and ease to your time outside.
Seeing your photos wearing our new Encompass Collection has been amazing. Designed for your everyday adventures—from local walks to longer hikes—it blends performance and everyday style so you can seamlessly go from trails to streets. I’ve especially enjoyed some stunning hikes this month, including a favourite of mine: The Llangollen Panorama in North Wales, not far from ACAI HQ. It’s a true hidden gem with breathtaking valley views. Whether you choose the 5-mile or 10-mile route, it’s well worth the climb. The shorter route is a favourite in our family—just long enough to earn that well-deserved cake at the end!
