We recently caught up with adventurer and mum of three @MyWeeBuddy who's explained how to make a stunning DIY wreath this festive season.
You will need:
-
Pinecones: 50 to 60, sorted into 3 size groups (small, medium, large). We also used a mixture of short round pinecones and long thin pinecones.
- 8" wire wreath frame
- Hot glue gun and hot glue sticks
- Evergreen branches
Step 1:
Collect your pinecones and leave them outside for an hour to let any bug escape
Then spread the pinecones in a single layer on a foil lined baking sheet and place in a 200F degree temperature oven for 1-2 hours. Drying this way can take an hour or two depending on the size so check on them every 30 minutes or so, and rotate because they can burn. (This process makes your house smell amazing)
Step 2:
Glue medium sized round pinecones to inner wires, placing each one, side by side until you have a complete ring.
Step 3:
Glue large sized round pinecones to middle wire, placing them in between where the pinecones meet in the first row so they fit neatly in the gap. Continue until you have a complete ring.
Step 4:
Glue medium and small sized, long pinecones to the back ring. Alternate the size so that you have a variation in height around the ring.
Step 5:
Poke evergreen branches or other foliage through the gaps in between the pinecones.
Optional: Glue evergreen branches to the back ring to add extra volume
Step 6:
Hang in your desired location
