3 Lake District walks beginning at Another Place, The Lake

Could Another Place, The Lake in Cumbria be the UK’s best staycation spot? We think so. Here’s why…

Another Place, The Lake is a relaxed and contemporary hotel right on the shores of Ullswater in the Lake District. ACAI recently shot their AW24 collection there, making use of the cosy shepherds hut & gorgeous lake backdrop. Surrounded by stunning views of the lake and fells beyond, it’s all about the balance of life, taking it easy with your favourite people, exploring the wilderness, and having a good time.

Whether you get out on the lake with an open-water swim or stand-up paddleboard session. Relax into a Swim Club massage or soak in the outdoor hot tub. Gaze across to the fells, hike through the morning mist, before coming back inside for a pre-dinner cocktail by the fire and seasonal food from one of the hotel’s four restaurants. With Another Place as your base can do as little or as much as you choose.

And with so many beautiful walks which can be accessed right from the hotel’s front door, it’s a fell hiker’s dream – with three quarters of hotel guests walking during their stay. We’ve included just three of our favourites below:

Another Place walking loop

A walk for any time of the year, this is a short, easy-to-moderate route starts along the edge of Ullswater with a good climb and views of the local landscape at higher points. Perfect for blowing the cobwebs away. A total distance of 5.8 km (lasting around 1 hour and 40 minutes).

Aira Force waterfall walk

An incredible there-and-back-walk on well-marked paths that climb gradually higher above Ullswater. It is a moderate walk with the distance being 8.7 km and taking approximately 2 hours to complete. The views are particularly breathtaking, talking in Aira Force’s impressive 65 ft waterfall. In the summer you can catch the Ullswater steamer ferry from the Aira Force jetty back to Pooley Bridge.

Pooley Bridge

Lastly, this special walk begins at the driveway beside the hotel and ends up leading you to the lively village of Pooley Bridge (the bookshop and café are well worth a stop). This walk does include some uphill hiking but isn’t technically difficult. It’s 5 km long and takes around 1 hour and 50 minutes.
