AW26 - Autumn in Motion

Women's autumn layers

The Nomad Gilet adds warmth without the bulk, in a relaxed fit that makes layering effortless. It suits a crisp dog walk or a coffee catch-up equally, and the practical pockets keep your hands warm on a cold morning. The Gilet comes in Oatmeal and Leopard, and the premium heavyweight fabric gives it a structured feel. The Nomad Fleece comes in Leopard and is made from 100% recycled polyester with a bonded microfleece lining. It carries a 1.9 tog rating, which is enough insulation for cooler days, and it works as a layer or on its own. Both pair easily with the trousers in this edit.

Autumn trousers, from softshell to thermal

The MAX Stretch Skinny Outdoor Trousers are the pair that started ACAI. The softshell is ultra-stretchy, snag-proof and water resistant, so it keeps you dry in light rain. The Terrain Trousers are the lighter option, with an elasticated waistband and quick-release belt for an adjustable fit. For more pairs that work the same way, see what we make for walking.

When the mornings turn cold, the MAX Stretch Thermal Skinny takes over. It is lined with thermal fleece, carries a tog rating of 1.6, and we rate it down to minus 15 degrees. For the coldest weeks, see what we make for deep winter

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Are the trousers water resistant or waterproof?

The trousers and shorts are water resistant rather than waterproof, so they handle light rain but not a downpour. The MAX Stretch Skinny and the Thermal Skinny both dry quickly after a heavy shower. The Thermal Skinny also has a DWR water repellent finish. The Nomad layers are there for warmth rather than weather protection. For sustained rain you will want a waterproof layer over the top.

What should I start with for early autumn?

The Nomad Gilet is the easy one to add over what you already wear. For legwear, start with the MAX Stretch Skinny, which is lightweight and water resistant. Move to the Thermal Skinny once the mornings turn cold, or sooner if you feel the cold.

What sizes and leg lengths do you offer?

Most trousers run from UK6 to UK22. The skinny fits come in Petite, Regular, Long and X-Long, with the widest choice of lengths from UK8 to UK16. Not every colour carries every length. The layers run from UK6 to UK18. Some styles come in UK sizes only, with no separate leg length. Our size guide has the body measurements behind each size.

Can I wear the trousers for hiking as well as every day?

Yes. The MAX Stretch Skinny is versatile enough for hiking, dog walking and horse riding, or even a casual pub stop. The fabric allows unrestricted movement.
