March is a beautiful month for celebrating women. After the energy and reflection of International Women’s Day, we move into another moment that feels incredibly personal to me: Mother’s Day.
My mum has always been one of my greatest inspirations. Not only was she the one who first took me hiking up mountains, she was also the person who planted the earliest seeds of entrepreneurship in me.
Growing up, I watched my parents work unbelievably hard. They grafted every single day. My childhood was a very happy one, but it looked a little different from many others. We didn’t spend weekends on family bike rides or at children’s entertainment parks. Instead, the time we spent together was working together.
My parents ran a flower business, and many of my childhood memories are rooted in the greenhouses, helping with weeding, carrying buckets, or simply creating my own little world of play beside them while they worked.
At the time it was simply a necessity. Looking back, it gave me something incredibly powerful: a deep work ethic and a natural entrepreneurial spirit.
There were moments when things were very tough for my parents. I remember one period in particular when my mum, determined to make things work, started making bouquets and selling them to local ladies from the back of our house.
I can still picture it so clearly.
I was only small, about the height of the table, so my view of everything was from tabletop level. I could only see half of what was happening as women queued outside our door, but I remember the atmosphere, the movement, the determination.
My job was to pass my mum the ribbons.
What stayed with me most wasn’t just the flowers or the busy little operation she created. It was her mindset.
No matter how difficult things became, she never waited for someone else to fix them. She was resourceful, creative, and fearless about rolling up her sleeves and finding a way forward.
That quiet determination, the belief that when life gets hard, you create a solution, is something that has stayed with me ever since.
So this Mother’s Day, I’m sending love and gratitude to every mum and mother figure who shows up with strength, creativity and resilience every day. As a mum myself, I know how deeply this role shapes us, and how hard it sometimes gets.
And I’m also holding space for those for whom this day may feel difficult, whether you’re missing your mum, longing to be one, or carrying a different kind of story. However you’re spending it, I’m wishing you a day filled with kindness and love.
Happy Mother’s Day!
With love,
Kasia
