Breaking Records & Finding Balance: My November in the Outdoors

As November draws to a close, I’ve been reflecting on what a full and energising month it has been. We welcomed the first cold snap, spent plenty of time outdoors (which absolutely kept me sane!), and enjoyed seeing so many of you, our loyal customers alongside lots of new faces, shopping with us during our Black Friday sale.

I was ecstatic to see that we broke records this year, achieving some of the biggest sales days in ACAI’s history. It makes me incredibly proud to witness such strong customer loyalty while also welcoming a significant number of new women into our community.

As an entrepreneur, these are the moments that make you stop, breathe, and think: all the hard work really is worth it. Seeing soooo many of you shopping with us, especially discovering our newest categories like jackets, is truly heartwarming. ACAI may be known as a legwear brand, but we are so much more than that. Our vision is to become the most loved women’s outdoorwear brand in the world… and breaking records like this makes that vision feel wonderfully within reach.

This month also brought a special moment at the Tate Modern in London, where I attended an EY UK celebration dinner for entrepreneurs. As a former regional finalist, I was invited to join the evening and it was such a pleasure to meet so many inspiring founders. They say to surround yourself with like minded people because entrepreneurship can be lonely, and nights like these are a precious chance to connect, reflect, and recharge… before catching a 7am train home and diving straight back into reality. 🙂

On a personal note, I’ve been keeping myself grounded with local walks. Between kids’ activities and a busy work schedule, staying close to home has been a saviour. I also picked the final crops from my little veg beds and cooked with the last of the greens, which felt so good. I love winter, but I always miss popping into the garden to pick something fresh for dinner.

I also enjoyed getting back onto my sewing machine and working on some new designs. I made the dress for the dinner event at the Tate Modern, which I really enjoyed! When we started ACAI, I made all my first designs and samples on the sewing machine, and over the years I simply haven’t had the time. As the brand has grown, the design process has evolved and our product team has played a vital role in developing our ranges. But recently I’ve felt the pull to return to my roots and create in the same hands on way I did at the start. As we grow and evolve, it can be grounding and inspiring to reconnect with where it all began.

I hope you are all keeping warm during this busy Christmas period. As joyful and exciting as this season is, it can also be challenging, so I want to wish you all a peaceful and joyful pre-Christmas build up. And remember to keep your wellbeing at the forefront. It's so easy for it to slip when we’re busy thinking of others. Make sure you still get your dose of fresh air to keep your spirits up on these short, dark days.
